I want to try to encode some espisodes of enterprise and battelstar galactica (1080i) into 720p at 1GB / Hour. I have a 2GB AMD X2 system.

Can someone give me a script for the best quality????

12) How NOT to post on this forum:

5 minutes after your initial post you reply to your own post writing something like "Why is nobody helping me? I'm sure you know the answer". Once somebody replies to your thread but doesn't give you exactly the answer you've been expecting you insult them.

Do not ask "what's best" because this question cannot be answered objectively. Each and everyone has their own view about what's best in a certain area. The best is what works best for you!

Owned. Nothing better to say then what Sharktooth already posted, and of course, making your own scripts and experimenting with them would be the best for you in the long run, unless someone here has already done the same thing you want to do, and is willing to share the script.

Next time ask "What method would you suggest" rather than "What method is best"

Here is what I suggest and prefer.

1 GB/hr roughly equates to a bitrate of 2250kbps with audio included. This may or may not be adequate for your source.

The Star Trek TV series tends to be notorius for being hard to deinterlace correctly. I'm not into these kinds of programs, so you should just search for TFM and Star Trek in the search bar and you should find some results.

The way I prefer to do 720p is to use Diddee's IIP filter (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=70916). But it's very slow if you don't have a high-end processor.

As someone who has contributed to the HDTV forums and others I was simply looking for advice.

There are literally tons of matrixes out there - I was simply not sure which "script" seems to work well wtih the x264.

I was - based on other suggestions - trying to compare NeroDigital myself - hence - some script/matrix that was comparible to the best nero can do

I apologize to everyone i offended - it was not my intenet.

And no, I NEVER "bumbed" my post nor replied to it as poster #1 thought,

SO I tried teh "autoencode" and just adjusted the bitrate and #passes. Nero simply makes x264 look like crap at the same speed.

So a good HDTV matrix is a must. Simply ensureing 2 pass and bitrate is NOT what nero is doing maxed out.

So here is a more detaiiled question:

What is a good script that is enabling all the functins of nero recode
HDTV AVC profile
All settingds max
3mbps

i also want to know what is difference between abr and 2-pass encoding?

SO now we have more concrete questions. I am not sure - in the MeGUI - if you want VBR AAC in the MP4 or CBR.

Also the "seeking" is adjustable in nero
Nero has "physchovisual enhancents"

Now I know nero does not have the "high" AVC protocoll.

That being said the "1 click" meGUI pre-defined settings do NOT compare to the statnadard Nero. Granted - it was 2x faster so there is no way it was working as hard (although I do understand x264 is x2 optimized).

If people would like to suggest a few fair comparisons I would be happy to post some short clips comparing them (1080i-1080p and 1080i->720p) of BattleStar Galactical Season1 :)

Saying something doesn't compare when you obviously haven't taken the time to read on how to get the best quality out of the codec seems to me to be somewhat insulting to the developers.

Go read the guide found here
http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=98247

Experiment and find what works best for you.

huabrija,

I am sorry I insuulted you. I am thrilled you provied me the link. That being said, it for those of us less aware of the "settings" and what they mean no where in the guide does it tell you how to do an apple to apple comparison.

Again, I am sorry for asking the question and you clearly have a superior intelect and knowledge of AVC encoding.

You weren't insulting me... Sorry if I came off a little harsh but I really think x264 is a great codec and I thought that saying one thing is better than another without taking the time to learn the ins and outs of a codec was a little shortsighthed.

Don't be sorry for asking the question, just dig first then ask it... you'll get a much better reception if you do :)
