Multiple passes with HC encoder?

I use HC encoder for most of my DVD backups and I love the quality I get. In fact I use it on everything other than CG movies (I find Procoder does them a bit better). Anyways, I was wondering if its possible to make HC do more than 2 passes?

slightly off topic, but why does everyone want to do 50 passes on their encodes when 2 will suffice 99.99999% of the time (given a decent ratecontrol...)?

generally speaking, if the encoder doesn't offer more than 2 passes, it doesn't need to :)
