Hi,

My NEC ND-1300A DVD-RW drive has funcioned flawlessly for a year and a half, but then suddenly my PC no longer "finds" the drive. That is, at boot-menu screen the drive is visible, also under My computer, but I simply fail to get it on explorer, and it won't play dvd's or recognize empty ones.

There is only firmware, and no driver, to be found for this drive as far as I know. I am unable to install firmware, as the PC again does not recognize the drive.

Any suggestions out there that could be useful to solve the problem?

I would greatly appreciate any answer.

Regards,
chlor

Try deleting the DVD driver instance under Device Manager. Then reboot and let it be detected and installed again.
