I recomend Matroska Pack Full, a tiny codec pack that comes with FFDShow and some others codecs (mainly audio) and filters (markedly matroska's). Size: 3.41 MB

http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Matroska_Pack.htm

You only need to install it as any other program. It registry itself.

What there is in MPC, and what there is not:
Start MediaPlayerClassic and have a look at Options->Filters.
There you see what is build in in MediaPlayerClassic.
Splitter allow to open the containers (like avi or mpg) and "extract" the streams. The container usually contains video and audio streams, but ohter streams like e.g. subtibles are possible, too.
To actually decode the video and audio stream, you need the decoders. MPC comes with decoders for MPEG1 and MPEG2 videos, MPEG audio and some else audio formats like e.g. AC3, AAC and DTS. For streams, audio or video, with a format not in the list, you have to install a codec (encoder/decoder), like for e.g. MPEG4-ASP alias DivX/Xvid, MPEG4-AVC alias H264, theora, VP4/6/7 etc. (video) Vorbis, Musepack etc. (Audio).
ffdshow is a set of directshow video and audio codecs, that can handle lots of diffreent video and audio formats, if configured to do so, and has lots of other filters with possibilities of enhancing and changing the video streams like resizing, postprocessing for quality-emprovement etc.

Now for the differences:
The ogg splitter in MPC is not able to handel xiph's video format theora in xiph's ogg container. If you have those files, it is recomended to install RadLight Ogg Media DirectShow filter and disable MPC's internal ogg splitter.
There is a Matroska/MP4/Avi-Splitter from Haali. But I do not know what the atvantages/disatvantages of this splitter to MPC's build in splitter are.

ac3filter is not necessary as ac3 parser/decoder has been built in MPC

What to do to get ogg container with vorbis Audio and theora video to work in MediaPlayerClassic:
1. Disable internl ogg splitter:
Run MPC and go to View->Options-> Filters and uncheck ogg in the source filters list
2. Force the use of Radlights Splitter and decoder
go to View->Options->Filters->Overrides
Press "Add Filter ..."
You get a Dialog entitled "Select Filter". There you will find RadLight Ogg Splitter, RadLight Theora Decoder, RadLight Vorbis Decoder and RadLight Speex Decoder.
One by one, choose one of those four, and add it.
When all four are in the List of Overrides, choose one after the other and choose "Prefere" on the right hand side.
If you do not find the RadLight splitter and decoder, you should try to install the RadLight Filters as administartor/superuser.

About Real support in MPC. Hold your mouse over the different entries to get some info. Note that you need to install RealPlayer (Basic) to be able to watch Real Video clips in rm/rmvb container and to check ->View>Options->Player->Formats and set Real Audio File and Real Video File to DirectShow. If something else is written there on the right, click on it to get a dropdown list. I do not know for sure that you need to check those two entries or not.

The four filters mentioned (RadLight Ogg Splitter, RadLight Theora Decoder, RadLight Vorbis Decoder and RadLight Speex Decoder) are all installed to your system when installing the RadLight Ogg Media DirectShow filter. It consists of those four filters.
If you have an ogg file with vorbis audio and theora video, installing the RadLight Ogg Media DirectShow filter and disabling MPC's internal ogg splitter is the only way I know to play those ogg files. This should hold true for most of the DirectShow based players like BSPlayer, ZoomPlayer etc.

As far as I'm aware MPC can play Vorbis in .OGG and various audio and video streams in OGM...

Cheers
