View Full Version : Ultimate Codec pack

Well searching the net for something better than divx or xvid i came across lots of codec packs etc...
a nice codec that was consistently 100mb smaller in size converting a 1gb vob file, and at the same time way better quality....3ivx
but finding codec packs are a pain here is the ultimate pack imo for vdub etc
*snip* (snip)
it has so many codecs it would take weeks to go threw all of them in vdub
the codec i paticullarly like right now is the mwv9 codec...
where the 1.2gb vob was compressed to 500mb divx files the quality was ok but wasnt what i was looking for in terms of size for quality..
this makes a nice 300-400mb size with much better quality and a ton faster performing 30fps in vdub compared to 18fps with divx or xvid
enjoy....if its already been posted etc, then woopsy my bad...
honestly it should be in the doom9 download section imo if not there already
ps full codec install is 170mb+ also comes with nice features
divx fix
gspot
windows media diag tool
tons more....
EDIT by Koepi: there is pirated stuff in your proposed codec pack.

*snip*
for those not going to the website those are the codecs/filters it has in the pack...and lots of nice tools that suck finding individually
EDIT by Koepi: ok, about 100 codecs. Many of them pirated.

I think I'm gonna be sick for the rest of the day...
Who in his right mind would want to install more than perhaps a handfull of all those codecs at the same time? (Also, you'd have to re-download the whole pack with every update - where's the sense in that?)
The last discussion (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=98128) we had about codec packs didn't seem to be in favour of them, either...

and it seems that some of the codecs are not freeware...
for example, divx pro codec (i think this is registered?), codecs by adaptec, cyberlink, elecard etc. be careful what you post.

For what would I need almost a dozen DV codecs?!
And why would I want to download 170MB of mostly junk that I'll never need anyway (my favorite pick: Joe Average needs a DVCPRO 50 codec?) ?

urrrrgghhh..I think one would need to buy a new hard disk just to install this codec pack, look at the size of that. Sickening indeed. Codec packs, my friend, are not welcome here.

actually far from it, i like the options why?
well for one divx looked like crap for what vids i was encoding...
then i switched to 3ivx, and that looked great for one episode, but the next episode which had different settings and the like xvid worked best
then on my next episode mwp9 codec worked best...
the videos im encoding have many demands and each one is very different...
and right now the hardest thing these divx/xvid codecs are having a problem with is material encoding, something of which my videos have very much of...
so yes currently have encoded 12 videos, each with 7 different codecs, ive spent 1 week making 5-10min test vids of the videos before i decided which one i wanted to go with..
and its not from lack of exploring its just because one codec looked nicer than the other simple as that...
and another common thing i find is, well where is divx fix? where can i download it? etc or how about fourcc code changer etc...well this codec pack has it all there for you...
if its pirated oops didnt know because i didnt download it for the divx pro,
and for the other, yes ffddshow is what im using right now mainly because of the noise option for encoding and other effects that hide the quality loss...but i still use different codecs threw ffdshow
plus yea its large but it lets you sample a huge amounts of codecs without searching, and if you find the one you "love" uninstall it and download yours...
and i guess im just lucky with a 250gb drive where codec space doesnt matter ;) lol

post count? oh plz is there a prize i get for hitting a certain amount? thats almost as rhetorical as the sirber saying more codecs must be better

This little unprovoked rant violates rule 4, respect the moderator. And it comes from nowhere, as Koepi hasn't posted to this thread.

*cough* *cough* Maybe you're just not setting up the codecs properly and what exactly is "material encoding"

This thread is funny. I mean, look at the size of that. If you in a weak moment considered downlad that behemoth, quickly click here (http://cccp.kickassanime.org) instead.

Yeah, please talk a little more sense. When you are writing, assume that no one knows what you are on about. I.E explain it fully, leave nothing out. Because without the full information, we cannot diagnose the problem and help you out.
