i posted this in the dvd authoring forum, but i'm gonna repost it here because i think it may possibly have something to do with the way that the mpeg itself was encoded..

so here's the deal, i have a bunch of short avi files of red vs blue and i wanted to turn them into a dvd that i can play in my standalone player. (i'll also use this knowledge to make a few other dvd's of random stuff, but this is my test)

after doing a bit of reading i found a program called TMPGenc.. excellent program, very easy to use. so i used the content creator to turn all the avi files (73 in total) into dvd-compliant mpeg files.. i then used dvd author to arrange all the various mpeg files into my desired dvd layout and converted them.. i then used nero to burn the files to dvd, and popped them into a player

disc loaded up and went straight into my menu.. awesome! then i selected play all.. everything was perfect, video looked and sounded good.. and it automatically went to the next ep like it was supposed to. perfect i thought.. until i got to season 3.

with seasons 3 and 4 i all of a sudden have no audio.. ?? i don't understand it.. every video was converted the same way and when i play one of the original files on my pc it works fine. i checked all the settings in my project, and they are also all the same. i have no clue as to why these particular episodes lost their sound. and why they lost their sound only when going from mpeg to vob..

so basically it's .. avi - sound .. mpeg - sound .. vob - no sound ??

so now i'm just smacking my head against a wall here.. does anyone have any ideas where i might have encountered my problem? like perhaps the encoding from avi to mpeg got a little screwed and the authoring program can't use it?

thanks in advance to any and all help on this one..

Try a different authoring program, such as Muxman. If that works, you can contact the makers of DVD Author for support.
