View Full Version : DVD Decrypter: region codes in ISO read mode?

Alright, so I have this R3/R4 DVD9 movie I bought that I want to make a 1:1 copy of onto a DVD+R DL disc. I'd thought that DVD Decrypter removed region coding/locks during decryption in ISO Read mode, so I just ripped it to an ISO then burned the ISO using DVD Decrypter (using the MDS file so there wouldn't be any issues with the layer change). The now burned DVD+R DL disc says it's R3/R4 now when I open it in DVD Decrypter. However, when I mount the MDS/ISO file with Daemon Tools and open the virtual drive in DVD Decrypter it's detected as being region free.
Is there a way to rip in ISO mode and remove region lockouts? Or am I missing something here. :P Thanks!

There's something to that effect in DVD Decrypter settings.

Right, in the settings under the ISO Read Mode tab I have "Create MDS File", "Remove IFO RC Protection" and "Remove IFO RCE Protection" checked. The unchecked boxes are "Remove IFO Structure Protection", "Remove IFO PUOs" and "Remove VOB PUOs". Should any of those be checked to remove the region coding/lockout?
Thanks!

The RC and RCE Protection should remove the region coding, same as File Mode AFAIK.

Meh, it did afterall I think.. The disc plays in an R1 set top player without trouble, but Media Player Classic refused to play the disc after I'd initially burned it. (Then I tried reading the burned disc in DVD Decrypter as explained above where I saw the R3/R4 region info). But now the disc is playing correctly in MPC and is reading as R1 in DVD Decrypter.
Thanks for the help, sorry for the confusion. Just to reiterate, it did work the first time, but for some reason the disc wasn't being read correctly.

I'd remove the PUOs too...lately some DVDs that I've bought have obnoxiously long unskipable intros/titles/etc. Check the boxes to the effect of "Remove ___ PUOs".
